Firmware Update on Astra IP

There are different firmware files for the fixture

For the most part the Fixture firmware and Comms hardware will always be updated together.

The Astra IP Fixture Firmware: This is the fixture's operating system and is updated via USB-C.

The VLPM Firmware: The internal Comms hardware is referred to as the VLPM (Videndum Lighting Protocol Module) and contains its own firmware that is responsible for native Bluetooth and WiFi.

CRMX Firmware: Only applies when the DMX Comms Plus module is installed. This DMX module has a LumenRadio TimoTwo chip for CRMX and Bluetooth LE. This chip can be updated over USB when attached to the Astra IP, or with the CRMX Toolbox app for iOS and Android. Firmware updates are provided by LumenRadio.

Firmware Update Process

Download the latest Astra IP firmware from: litepanels.com/en/product-support/download/

Unzip the files and put them in the root folder of a USB-C drive that is formatted FAT32 or exFAT and that uses a Master Boot Record (MBR) partition table.  GUID partitioned drives will not work.

To start the update process there are two methods:

A.) Press MENU to enter Setting and navigate to Firmware Update

B.) Press & Hold the MENU encoder while powering on the fixture

If the revisions found are different from what is already installed, the new firmware revisions will be displayed.

Follow the on-screen instructions.  The update will automatically be detected for both the Fixture's OS firmware and the internal Comms hardware. Press MENU to continue.

Do not interrupt the firmware update while in progress.

Note

If there is power loss during the update process of the fixture or CRMX firmware, the fixture will reboot with its previous software. Simply restart the firmware update process from the menu and wait for it to complete.

If there is a power loss while updating the VLPM firmware, use the button shortcut to run the update process again.

When the firmware update is complete it is best practice to perform a Reset to Defaults from the Settings menu.
